Horse gram Podi

Horse gram Podi is a famous one in Andhra Cuisine.Every andhrite will be having a number of podi's in store in their houses.The Special thing about this podi is we can store it for few months.when we are in a hurry or sick.we neednt bother to cook any curry.we can simply use this podi with rice,dosa,idly etc...


Horse gram - 1 cup
Pepper corns - 1 tsp
Cummin seeds / jeera - 1 tsp
Dry red chillies - 6
Asafetida – A Pinch
Salt to taste

Dry roast Horse gram in a pan for 2 minutes then add pepper corns and jeera.again roast for a minute in simmer.add dry red chillies now.then remove from fire. Grind in a mixie with salt and asafoetida.

Serve this podi with hot rice and ghee…
