Steamed Rice Jaggery Dumplings / Pidi Kozhukattai


Kozhukkattai or steamed rice dumplings is a traditional dish of South India. It  is an important neivedyam to Lord Ganesh on the festival of Ganesh chaturthi.  It is made in different variations using the ingredients rice flour,coconut or lentilsetc., Stuffed Kozhukkattai is made in sweet and spicy version. Pidi kozhukattai is a simpler version without the stuffing and is quick and easy to make. The process of making is somewhat similar to ravioli.

Ingredients:-
Rice flour - 1 cup
Jaggery - crushed - 1 cup
Grated Coconut - 1/2 cup
Cardamom powder - 1/2 tsp
Til - 5 tbsp
Water - 1/2 cup

Method:-
Dry roast the rice flour until it turns light brown. Then add all ingredients one by one and mix well. then roll small balls and arrange in a idli cooker and cook. pierce the knife in the steamed  Pidi Kozhukattai and take out if the knife comes out clean then its ready to taste.Gobble up the yummy dumplings...
