Sukhiyan / Green Gram Snack


Green gram - 1 cup
Water - 1/2 cup
Jaggery - 3/4 cup
Grated coconut - 3/4 cup
Elachi powder - 1 tsp
Ghee - 3 tbsp
Cashew nuts - 1/3 cup
Raisins - 1/3 cup
Maida - 1 cup
Salt - a pinch
Sugar - 2 tbsp
Yellow food color - 1/2 tsp
Oil for frying


Pressure cook whole green gram with ½ cup water.When its cooked,Mash well and keep aside.Heat ghee in a pan and fry cashew nuts and raisins.
Add jaggery with little water.When it melts add coconut,cooked green gram,fried cashew nuts, raisins and Elachi powder.Mix well and make small balls.Now Make thick batter with Maida,Salt,Sugar,Yellow food color and Water.Dip each ball in the battter and deep fry till golden color.
