Plain Kakra

Kakra is a wheat based Gujarati snack.The plain and methi falvour are made during fasting days.there are Various other flavours like Plain,chilli,Paav bhaji, Methi,Italiano,Onion, Garlic, Masala etc.These  are available in stores also and kids loved to eat it.It is a best food in travelling.


Ingredients :-

Wheat flour - 1 cup
Salt to taste
Ghee - 1 tbsp (optional)

Method :-


Knead the wheat flour with enough water and ghee,like you do for chapathis and keep it aside for 1/2 hour
Make small balls out of it.Flatten each ball using a rollingpin.Spread it very thin with occassional dusting of wheat flour to prevent sticking to the board.heat tawain a medium flame.Fold the kitchen towel & keep it ready.Cook the flattened thin chapathi. When it is partially cooked , keep pressing & rolling it with the kitchen towel till the side is crispy.When done, flip sides and cook.Keep on pressing all over the chapathi with kitchen towel. Though it raises, gradually it will settle down and become paper thin.Home made fresh, thin, cripsy and healthy kakra is ready.serve with tomato sauce.
