Wish you all happy Varamaha lakshmi vratha
Yesterday(12-8-2011) is Vara lakshmi vratha.Due to Varalakshmi vratha and tiredness of fasting.i couldnt blog yesterday so here iam with the wishes and sweet delicacy.Chakka pradhaman...have you heard of it????yeah few of you might heard it in kerala.yes its a keralite special kheer called as 'Chakka pradhaman' which means jack fruit payasam.
Ingredients:
Ripe jack fruit - 15
Coconut milk - 1 cup
Jaggery - 1/2 cup
Cardamom powder - 1 tsp
Ghee - 2 tbsp
Cashews - 3 tsp
Coconut pieces - 5 tbsp
Method:
Puree the jack fruit in a mixier.In a pan take a tsp of ghee and pour in the jack fruit puree along with little water.Cook on medium flame for ten minutes.
In another vessel, boil the jaggery with water till it melts and remove the impurities.
add the jaggery syrup to the boiling jack fruit and let it all boil for ten minutes and switch off the flame.Now remove from fire and add the coconut milk to it and whisk well and add the cardamom powder. Fry cashews in ghee until golden brown and also fry the coconut pieces and add them all to the jack fruit payasam or Chakka pradhaman.
Serve it warm.
