Diwali is around the corner so we started preparing snacks and sweets at our home....
Ingredients:
Rice flour - 2 cups
Besan/Gram flour - 1/2 cup
Roasted Chick peas - 1 cup(dalia , pottukadalai)
Peppercorns - 1 Tsp
White sesame - 1 Tsp
Red chilly flakes - 1 tsp
Roasted Peanuts - 3 Tbsp
Asafoetida powder - 1 Tsp
Salt to taste
Oil for deep frying
Method:
Grind coarsely peppercorns and keep aside. Take a large bowl, add the rice flour, gram flour,grounded peppercorns,red chilly flakes, chickpeas and peanuts,sesame asafoetida powder, salt and mix everything well with enough water as a smooth dough.make small balls from the thattai dough.Take two zip lock bags, grease both ziplock bag with oil.place a ball as sandwich in between the greased bag, place them inside the Roti press to make my thattais easily..its easy way to make them.Meanwhile heat the oil in a wok for deep frying and drop the thattais one by one.fry them in medium flame, take them out from oil and drain the excess of the oil with a papper towel.then fry the another batch.Preserve them in an air tight container.
