Semiya Payasam

Semiya Payasam/Kheer


    1 cup Vermicelli
    3/4 cup Water
    1 cup Sugar
    1 cup Milk
    10 Cashew nuts
    1 tsp Raisin
    1 tsp Ghee
    1 tsp Cardamom powder
    2-3 tsps Sago
    A pinch food color(Orange)


Heat a pan, add a tsp of ghee and fry the cashew nuts,Raisins and keep aside.Then fry the vermicelli in the pan till golden brown.
In a cooking vessel, add the sago and three cups of water and a pinch of food color then cook for 5 minutes, then add the roasted vermicelli and let it cook completely.
Once the vermicelli becomes soft, add sugar and stir,Add milk and let it slowly simmer,stir once in a while.
Add the cardamom powder,raisins and cashew nuts and serve.
